A Gaze from Within

In my work, I aimed to move beyond the traditional two-dimensional perception of painting, exploring ways to convey depth not only visually, but also emotionally. The main objective was to break the flatness of the canvas and infuse the image with layers—both physical and psychological.

The theme of the series emerged from personal experience and a deep process of inner exploration, including conversations with a psychologist. Realizing how profoundly our adult selves are shaped by childhood experiences became a turning point. This journey of self-discovery led me to examine the concept of the "inner child"—first within myself, and then in others.

These canvases depict two people who are close to me, each shaped by a unique childhood that left a lasting imprint on their adult personalities. The contrast between their inner worlds became the foundation of the composition: different childhoods led to different emotional structures, opposing reactions, and distinct ways of being in the world.
